North Korea Threatens ‘Whole U.S. Mainland’ With ‘Annihilating Strike’ After Latest Missile Test
KIM Jong-un has accused the US of preparing for a “preemptive nuclear strike” on North Korea, after Donald Trump proclaimed the era of strategic patience with Pyongyang is “over”.
Donald Trump squared up to the young tyrant’s regime of cruelty in a joint press conference with newly elected South Korean president Moon Jae-in, where the Republican declared “the era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed”.
Now a spokesman for the hermit kingdom’s “No-Nuclear War Committee” has accused the Trump administration of “running riot” – and claimed the US want to launch “a preemptive nuclear strike” on the Korean peninsula.
It comes amid fears KIM could strike the United States after developing a missile capable of reaching US soil.
In a statement spread through North Korean networks, the spokesman said: “What merits more serious attention is the fact that the US is hyping its outrageous military pressure on the DPRK through media, continuously bringing its lethal hardware for a nuclear war to the peninsula.
“This shows that the US military scenario to ignite a nuclear war on the peninsula at any cost has gone beyond the red line and the Trump administration’s advertisement for the exclusion of military option from the ‘maximum pressure and engagement’ policy is no more than a sly trick to cover up their scenario for a war against the DPRK including a preemptive nuclear strike.
“The Trump administration should not run riot, thinking twice about the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its foolhardy military moves.
“It should properly understand the spirit and will of the Korean army and people to annihilate the enemy and finally conclude the standoff with the US.”
The comments came on the same day President Trump called for allies of the US to join together to bring North Korea’s brutal regime to an end.
Standing alongside South Korean President Moon Jae-in in the White House’s Rose Garden, he said: “The era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed… Frankly, that patience is over.”
He added: “We are working closely with South Korea and Japan as well as partners around the world on a range of diplomatic, security and economic measures to protect our allies and our own citizens from this menace known as North Korea.
“The United States calls on other regional powers and all responsible nations to join us in implementing sanctions and demanding that the North Korean regime choose a better path – and do it quickly – and a different future for its long-suffering people.
“Our goal is peace, stability and prosperity for the region, but the United States will defend itself, will always will defend itself, always.
“And we will always defend our allies.
“As part of that commitment we are working together to ensure fair burden-sharing and support of the United States military presence in South Korea”.
