Jesse Ventura Shut Down the National Anthem Debate

A couple years ago, the Internet was set on fire and debates erupted nationally when an activists’ stunt actually penetrated into the thought bubble of the masses: because it was on television.

Colin Kaepernick kneeled instead of standing in praise of the military actions of the United States government during the national anthem, a feature of NFL football that is ingrained into the sport for the sake of worshiping military culture.

Since then, so many other people have taken a stand against praising the authority that has taken the lives of countless innocent civilians in recent times, from an entire NFL football team to high school football players.

Now, Kaepernick kneels during the national anthem on a regular basis, and it’s still managing to stir debate on how nationalistic rituals embedded into practices in American society should continue, or not continue.

In his own words Kaepernick is continuing to carry out the protest because:

“People don’t realize what’s really going on in this country. There are a lot of things that are going on that are unjust. People aren’t being held accountable for. And that’s something that needs to change. That’s something that this country stands for freedom, liberty and justice for all. And it’s not happening for all right now.”

So to this day, his protest has consistently been due to the epidemic of police shootings in the United States, and the fact that the victims and family members of victims never see justice or even petty financial compensation almost ever, and many of these people killed by the police are innocent or unarmed, or armed and not dangerous when they are legally allowed to be armed, as they should be.

At this point it’s about 1,000 police slayings every year in America. For perspective, in the drug flooded neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois, “Chiraq, Drillinois,” somewhere around 500 – 700 people pass away every year from being shot.

Every year, more people lose their lives at the hands of the police in America than are shot and killed in Chicago: some years, it’s double the rate of Chicago.

Ask Texas who is more dangerous, a petty criminal or the police? It’s the safest place you might live in America in most places, except when it comes to the police.

Yet, the exact type of “patriotic” people who may rightfully believe in self defense, also unfortunately place a lot of faith in the police and military and believe Colin’s protest is about nothing at all.

“The problem with this narrative is that many military veterans have sided with Kaepernick, not the blind keyboard “patriots.”

You see, the entire point of freedom is that you are free to do or say things that may be unpopular or uncomfortable, or even offensive. You can criticize the government when you feel it’s doing something wrong, and that’s the message Jesse Ventura has for America in the video below:”

Recently, former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura gave a salute to the national-anthem protest being carried out by Kaepernick.

It’s just one little extra grain of support that should be very much appreciated.

This should not be any kind of divisive issue: people of all colors and classes can lose their lives to the police in America. Where self defense is, as it should be, so present in a culture, the government and police always seem to get extra vicious and spiteful of it. That’s America: the beauty of defense and freedom, strength and resilience but the world has to be filled with monsters who want to control and coerce other people.

If you want gun control, you want only the police known for ending the lives of innocent people, to have guns.
